"Beauty?"

This is a little meaningful, personal and maybe a slight rant but I've been looking at Instagram.
I love Instagram and post lots, however the way it has made us girls is ridiculous. It has made hundreds of teenage girls feel uncomfortable in their skin and feel as though they need to have a thigh gap or hip bridge to be beautiful. This is not the case. Some of the accounts on Instagram actually disturbed me slightly. They were all depressive 12/13/14 year olds talking about how they were a "failure" because they weren't skinny with a thigh gap the size of narnia! THIS IS NOT OK!

So everyone may strive for a slight gap between their thighs but the standard young girls are now aiming towards is unrealistic. A number of factors play into whether a woman has a significant thigh gap, including genetics, ethnicity, pelvic size and width, says Laura Tosi, a pediatric orthopedist and director of the bone health program at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Therefore, not everyone can physically achieve thigh gaps like above. As weightloss is proportionate, most girls will not have a natural gap bigger than a peep and would have to lose a dangerous amount of weight to reach thigh gap expectations created by social media.
Social media sites, such as Instagram and tumblr are creating a more unrealistic and unachievable expectation for you girls to aspire towards. This standard is despicably unfeasible and can cause many girls to resort to anorexia and bulimia, which cause massive physical and mental health issues for sufferers that never go away!
I understand it is hard and every girls wants to conform to this concept of beauty, but this is become far fetched. As long as girls have a healthy diet and exercise, then they will have a good body that will be seen as desirable and attractive.
Rant over. 🙅Sorry ✌️
